The Robinson family legacy represents more than military service. It is a multigenerational story of sacrifice, resilience, leadership, aviation history, and public service spanning more than a century of American history.

From World War I service in the United States Navy… to the rise of Black military aviation during World War II… to modern federal service and historical storytelling through interactive media… each generation carried forward a commitment to service and excellence.

Today, that legacy lives on through Wings of Valor–Tuskegee Ace Pilot, the flagship historical aviation project being developed by Brick City Gaming Studios.

Robinson

The Robinson family's documented military legacy begins with Theodore Robinson, born September 28, 1889, in Lexington, Kentucky.

Historical records and World War I draft registration documents place him in Chicago, Illinois, during the WWI era, where he registered for military service. Family and archival documentation indicate service connected to the United States Navy during the World War I period.

He represented a generation of African Americans who served their nation during an era marked by segregation and limited opportunity, yet still answered the call to serve.

Theodore Wesley
"Ted" Robinson

Born September 1, 1926, in Cook County, Illinois, Theodore Wesley "Ted" Robinson became part of the generation of African American aviators who helped transform American military and aviation history during and after World War II.

His life reflected the rapid evolution of aviation during the 20th century — from propeller-driven military aircraft to the dawn of the jet age.

A newspaper feature documenting his accomplishments identified him as

  • a qualified jet pilot
  • an aviation professional
  • a public servant connected to airport leadership and aviation advancement

The broader story of the Tuskegee Airmen — from cadet training at Moton Army Airfield to combat missions over Europe — became a major inspiration behind the development of Wings of Valor–Tuskegee Ace Pilot.

Later in life, Theodore Wesley "Ted" Robinson made two documented contributions to the preservation of African American aviation history through the Smithsonian Institution — as an advisor connected to the National Air and Space Museum's Black Wings: The American Black in Aviation initiative, and as an interviewer for the Smithsonian Institution Archives' Black Aviators Videohistory Collection.

  • a Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum advisor
  • a curatorial contributor connected to the Black Wings initiative
  • an interviewer for the Smithsonian Institution Archives Black Aviators Videohistory Collection (1989–1990)

Michael
Robinson

Inspired by the legacy of service carried forward by the generations before him, Michael Robinson volunteered to serve the United States as a member of the United States Marine Corps, continuing the Robinson family tradition of military and public service. That commitment to service later expanded into federal leadership, veterans advocacy, workforce protection, education, and historical storytelling through digital media.

Michael's connection to the Tuskegee legacy extends beyond family history. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Theodore Wesley "Ted" Robinson, he attended and graduated from Tuskegee University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the same institution whose history is forever intertwined with the Tuskegee Airmen and the pioneering African American aviators who trained at nearby Moton Field and Tuskegee Army Air Field.

With more than 27 years of federal service, Michael Robinson has dedicated over two decades to protecting the employment and reemployment rights of veterans, service members, and their families through leadership roles connected to veterans' employment protections and workforce advocacy.

Today, he serves as a federal leader, veterans advocate, author, and founder of Brick City Gaming Studios, where he is leading the development of Wings of Valor–Tuskegee Ace Pilot — a historically inspired aviation experience designed to honor the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen through immersive storytelling, aviation history, and STEM-focused educational gameplay.

His professional and creative mission combines

  • Military Service
  • Veterans Advocacy
  • Historical Preservation
  • STEM Education
  • Interactive Storytelling
  • Tuskegee Legacy and Aviation History
